News: Kia’s Sorento 2023: A Fresh Look with Striking Design Language

Kia recently revealed a significant facelift for its Sorento model, with updates to both the exterior and interior, making it more attractive three years after its current version was launched. The front end has undergone a thorough restyling, featuring elements from Kia’s new Opposites United design language, inspired by contrasts found in nature and humanity.

 

The front of the car exhibits T-shaped headlights with LED daytime running lights and separate fog lights. These surround a redesigned front grille, while at the rear, the lights have been connected at the top, creating an illusion of increased width. Additionally, the rear apron has been modified for a sleeker look, with the reversing lights now positioned below the rear reflectors.

 

To complement the exterior changes, new alloy wheel designs, trim options, and paint schemes have been introduced to update the car’s appearance.

 

Moving to the interior, the dashboard design has been refreshed, integrating the air vents and climate controls seamlessly. This alteration allows for a larger, simplified one-piece interface for the infotainment and driver display. Furthermore, the interior features new brushed-metal finish trim pieces, revised graphics for the speedometer and rev counter, and capacitive buttons for the air conditioning, following the style of the EV6 and Sportage models. Additionally, three new interior color options—Interstellar Grey, Volcanic Brown, and Cityscape Green—have been introduced. 

 

Regarding the powertrain, it is expected that the Sorento will retain its existing engine options. In the UK, the available choices are a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 190bhp, a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol hybrid with a single electric motor generating 227bhp, and a plug-in hybrid system with the same engine producing 281bhp.

 

With these updates, the Sorento is set to remain fresh and appealing for the remainder of its planned lifecycle, which is expected to conclude around 2026 or 2027.
